Healthcare for the whole person

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of medicine that originated in ancient China. It has a history of over 2,500 years and continues to be widely practiced today. Chinese Medicine encompasses various modalities and approaches to promote health and treat illnesses.

The fundamental principle of Chinese Medicine is based on the concept of balance and harmony. It views the body as a complex interconnected system where the flow of vital energy, known as Qi (pronounced "chee"), plays a central role. According to TCM, the balance and smooth flow of Qi throughout the body are essential for maintaining good health, while the disruption or imbalance of Qi can lead to illness.

What is Chinese Medicine?

  1. Acupuncture: The insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of Qi and stimulate the body's natural healing response.

  2. Herbal Medicine: The use of a vast array of medicinal herbs and herbal formulas to address specific health conditions and restore balance.

  3. Cupping: Glass cups are placed on the skin and the air is pumped out to create a vacuum effect, which helps improve blood circulation and relieve muscle tension.

  4. Gua Sha: Oil is applied to the skin and then a soft-edged tool is used to scrape the skin which helps to improve blood circulation and relieve muscle tension.

  5. Moxibustion: The burning of dried mugwort near specific acupuncture points to warm and invigorate the body.

  6. Dietary Therapy: The use of specific foods and dietary recommendations to support health and address imbalances.

Whole Person Healthcare

Chinese Medicine is based on a holistic approach to health, considering the individual as a whole—mind, body, and spirit. TCM practitioners diagnose health conditions by examining various factors, including the person's symptoms, medical history, tongue appearance, pulse characteristics, and overall constitution. Treatment plans are personalized and may involve a combination of modalities to restore balance and promote well-being.

“I feel genuinely lucky to have Savannah's quality and quantity of both knowledge and kindness in my healthcare corner. She has helped my digestive health IMMENSELY and is always my first stop when I have any type of muscle tension or pain. I'm always impressed with her ability to intentionally tackle whatever concerns I bring to the table and even more impressed when I leave my appointment feeling 10x better. I've also had excellent results with herbal supplements and teas she's suggested working with. I truly can't recommend Savannah's care enough!”
